Redbird XC's Sinclair Posts Top-100 Finish At NCAA Championships

Graduate William Sinclair came home in 96th overall at the NCAA Championships, running a time of 29:53.0 at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisconsin.

MADISON, Wis. - Graduate William Sinclair came home in 96th overall at the NCAA Championships, running a time of 29:53.0 at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisconsin.

Sinclair became the sixth different runner in Redbird history to finish top-100 at the NCAA Cross Country Champions. He joins Kevin Koski, Kyle Mattes, Christian Goy, Robert Breit, and Mike Baker as the only runners to accomplish the feat at Illinois State.

Sinclair was one of 255 runners and gained 80 positions from the start to the finish of the race. At the 5,000-meter mark, Sinclair sat in 148th place with a split of 14:52.8. In the last half of the race he gained 52 positions to post a top-100 finish.

As the only representative from the Valley, Sinclair posted the highest finish for an MVC runner since Illinois State alum Kyle Mattes finished 52nd in 2018.
