ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Missouri Valley Conference announced the 2024 Cross Country Scholar-Athletes Tuesday morning, following the 2024 MVC Cross Country Championships, which took place on November 1st in Cedar Falls, Iowa. 

Scholar-athlete honor requires athletes to meet performance standards. They must finish in the top 20 at the conference championship and hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. They must also be in sophomore standing academically and athletically.

For top honors, the Scholar-Athlete of the Year is the top finisher that meets the qualifications for the team.

Senior Mathis Chavand earned the 2024 Scholar-Athlete award following his second-place finish at the conference title meet after he ran a time of 23:16.5 which set a new PR. Chavand, a political science major currently holds a cumulative GPA of 3.89.
