SPRING CAMP REPORT: Birds Beat The Rain In First Scrimmage
NORMAL, Ill. – As rainy weathers quickly approached and later caused delay for the Redbird softball and baseball teams, the ISU football team was able to get its first scrimmage of Spring Camp completed before things got wet at Hancock Stadium on Saturday morning.
Scoring Summary:
• The first score of the day came on a 9-play scoring drive, as quarterback Beckham Pellant moved the team down the field and took advantage of a couple strong runs by Cal Martine and Seth Glatz before capping off the drive with an 11-yard TD pass to Brett Kasper.
• On the very next play with the drive starting at midfield, Pellant connected with Andrew Rockford on a 50-yard strike for a touchdown.
• Two series later, Pellant tossed his third score of the day as he found Eddie Kasper for a 49-yard touchdown to cap off a six-play scoring drive.
• During the red zone session, Pellant tossed his fourth TD of the day as he found Xavier Loyd open for a 15-yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage.
• In the following session, Martine found the end zone and scored on a two-yard touchdown run to end the red zone series in fine fashion.
• The final score of the scrimmage came during the two-minute drill, as Pellant found Gavin Camp for a 45-yard touchdown.
