Shai Robinson Tabbed to Brooks Wallace Award Watch List
OVERLAND PARK, Kansas – Illinois State junior Shai Robinson has been named to the 2025 Watch List for the Brooks Wallace Award, which was released Friday by the College Baseball Foundation.
Robinson has continued to be one of the best middle infielders in college baseball on the offensive side as he has a .308 batting average with five doubles, seven home runs, and 31 RBIs. Meanwhile on the defensive side of the ball, Robinson has turned helped turn 17 double plays, has 82 assists, and 58 putouts.
The 6'1" shortstop was recognized and listed among the D1Baseball.com Top 150 College Prospects for the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft prior to the 2025 season.
The award honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.
The top 100 shortstops in the country were announced Thursday, led by several players putting tremendous offensive numbers. But because the award is reflective of more than just offense, there are numerous players putting up solid defensive numbers as well.
Robinson and Illinois State return home to Duffy Bass Field this weekend with a three-game Missouri Valley series against Bradley Friday-Saturday.
First pitch on Friday is slated for 3 p.m. while Saturday gets started at 1 p.m. for a series concluding doubleheader.
