Redbirds Win 2025 Purple College Basketball Invitational
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Illinois State Redbirds had five in double-figures, led by a season-high 20 points from Caden Boser, as the team won the 2025 Purple College Basketball Invitational by a 79-68 final score against the Cleveland State Vikings.
Boser was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field and 4-of-4 from long range, while Johnny Kinziger and Chase Walker each scored 13, and Dalton Banks and Ty Pence with 11. The team's four seniors combined to score 42 of the 79 points in their final game in a Redbird uniform.
Dalton Banks gave out five assists, while Kinziger's seven rebounds were a game-high.
The Redbirds close the season with a 22-14 overall record, the program's first time reaching the 20-win plateau since the 2016-17 season.
