BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-- The Illinois State men's tennis team (6-16, 1-3 SUMMIT) will conclude the regular season inside the friendly confines of Evergreen Racquet Club when they play host to the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (5-17, 0-4 SUMMIT) on Saturday. First serve is slated for 4:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

The Birds fell to the North Dakota Fighting Hawks (17-3, 4-0 SUMMIT) on April 5 by a score of 5-2 inside the Choice Health and Fitness Center.

In doubles play, the Birds picked up the point as juniors Adrian Dibildox (Monterrey, Mexico) and Tomas Valencia (Santiago, Chile) battled to a 6-4 win. At No. 3, freshman Christian Capacci (Forlimpopoli, Italy) and Manuel Pavia (Lana, Italy) defeated UND's Leo Galliano and Jerall Yasin by a final score of 7 (9) - 6 (7).

As play shifted to singles competition, North Dakota picked up five of six matches. The bright spot for the Birds came when Caden Scarlett (Evansville, Ind.) prevailed over UND's Alex Christos in straight sets by scores of 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 6 position.

REACHING THE SUMMIT

With a victory this weekend, Illinois State is likely to clinch a spot in Summit League Championships. The Birds currently hold a 1-3 record in Summit League Conference play.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES

Oral Roberts most recently dropped a match to Wichita State of the American Conference by a score of 4-0. The Golden Eagles are still looking for their first Summit League win this season and will look for their first win against a Division 1 opponent since March 3 when they defeated Southern Miss. Against Southern Miss, ORU was led by the No. 1 doubles pair of Ricardo Filho and Parv Nage who secured a 6-2 win. In singles play, Nage battled to a 6-3, 6-2 win over USM's Pasawee Reansuwong.

ALL-TIME MEETINGS VS ORAL ROBERTS

Illinois State holds a 6-1 record over the Golden Eagles. A season ago, the Birds defeated ORU by a final score of 6-1. The first ever matchup between Illinois State University and Oral Roberts took place on January 17, 2015 where ISU took down ORU, 5-2 in a neutral site clash.

UP NEXT

Following Saturday, the Birds will wait to find out their fate for the 2025 Summit League Championships from April 18-19 in Denver, CO, hosted by Denver University.
