Birds Travel to Des Moines for a Battle with the Bulldogs

The Illinois State men's tennis team (4-14, 0-1 SUMMIT) will hit the road to face the Drake Bulldogs (7-8, 1-1 SUMMIT) in Des Moines on March 26 at 4 p.m inside Roger Knapp Tennis Center.

DES MOINES, Iowa.-- The Illinois State men's tennis team (4-14, 0-1 SUMMIT) will hit the road to face the Drake Bulldogs (7-8, 1-1 SUMMIT) in Des Moines on March 26 at 4 p.m inside Roger Knapp Tennis Center.

LAST TIME OUT

Illinois State dropped a road test against the Omaha Mavericks (8-8, 2-0 SUMMIT) in the Summit League Opener, inside Miracle Hill Tennis Center by a score of 5-2.

The Birds picked up two singles wins in the loss. At. No. 2, junior Adrian Dibildox (Monterrey, Mexico) defeated Bryan Kuntz of the Mavericks in three sets by scores of 7-6 (0), 3-6, 6-2. Freshman Christian Capacci (Forlimpopoli, Italy) battled to a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over UNO's Christian Trevey at the No. 4 position.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

Drake most recently claimed a 4-3 Summit League victory over Oral Roberts on Saturday, March 22. The Bulldogs were led by Jose Alessandro Hernandez at No. 2 singles who picked up a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set win over Parve Nage of ORU. In doubles play, Adan Tarquino and Aaron Dawson battled to a 6-2 victory against Elijah Brewer and Jonathan Evans of the Golden Eagles.

UP NEXT-

Illinois State will return home to face the Denver Pioneers (10-6, 0-0 SUMMIT) on March 28 at 9:30 a.m. The Birds will have a quick turnaround as they face the St. Louis University Billikens (1-8) of the Atlantic-10 Conference on March 29 at 4:30 p.m. inside Evergreen Racquet Club.
