Birds Fall Short in Grand Forks, 5-2
GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- The Illinois State men's tennis team (6-16, 1-3 SUMMIT) fell to the North Dakota Fighting Hawks (17-3, 4-0 SUMMIT) on Saturday (April. 5) by a score of 5-2 inside Choice Health and Fitness Center.
In doubles play, the Birds picked up the point as juniors Adrian Dibildox (Monterrey, Mexico) and Tomas Valencia (Santiago, Chile) battled to a 6-4 win. At No. 3, freshman Christian Capacci (Forlimpopoli, Italy) and Manuel Pavia (Lana, Italy) defeated UND's Leo Galliano and Jerall Yasin by a final score of 7 (9)- 6 (7).
As play shifted to singles competition, North Dakota picked up five of six matches. The bright spot for the Birds came when Caden Scarlett (Evansville, Ind.) prevailed over UND's Alex Christos in straight sets by scores of 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 6 position.

ISU will conclude the regular season at home against Oral Roberts (5-13, 0-4 SUMMIT) on Saturday, April 12. First serve will be at 4:30 inside Evergreen Racquet Club. The Birds will then wait to find out their fate for the 2025 Summit League Championships from April 18-19 in Denver, CO, hosted by Denver University.
