Redbird Standouts Wrap Up Season At NCAA Washington Regional
SEATTLE – Illinois State gymnastics seniors Jaye Mack, Sara Wabi and Alana Laster represented the Redbird program Friday on a national stage, as the Redbird trio competed against some of the best collegiate gymnasts in the country at the 2025 NCAA Washington Regional Championships at Alaska Airlines Arena.
The Redbirds competed in the first session of Round Two in Seattle, where Missouri and Arizona advanced as teams to compete in the Regional Final for a chance to advance to the NCAA Championships in Texas.
"I am so proud of all three of these young ladies as they competed at NCAA Regionals," ISU head coach Bob Conkling said. "Their poise, as seniors, knowing this would be their last time representing ISU was something special to watch. I think they should all be proud of the careers they've had here as Redbirds."
Mack was solid on both of her events on the night, as she made her fourth appearance at the NCAA Regionals. The Lee's Summit, Missouri, native had a great rotation on the vault with scoring a 9.875 to finish in a tie for third place overall. She also competed on floor, where she recorded a score of 9.850 to tie for 11th overall to cap off a stellar career at Illinois State.
Wabi, who was competing at the regionals for the first time in her career, proved she belonged. The Chicago, Illinois, native tied for 18th on bars with a score of 9.800 in a solid routine for her first appearance on a national stage. Laster, competing in her third regional competition, struggled on the day with falls on both vault and floor.
