Naperville Native Joins Redbirds for 2025 Campaign
NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State soccer head coach Raleigh DeRose announced the addition of defender Sophia Skoubis, who will join the Redbirds for the fall 2025 campaign.
A native of Naperville, Ill., Skoubis played the last two seasons at Coastal Carolina, after spending her freshman campaign at Missouri in 2022. Skoubis appeared in 23 games across two seasons with the Chanticleers, making three starts last season for Coastal Carolina. She comes to Normal as a graduate student with a bachelor's degree in recreation and sport management.
She put up a successful career at Naperville Central high school, with 1 goal and 3 assists from the back line. Skoubis was a three-time all-conference selection and helped the RedHawks to a 2021 DuPage Valley Conference championship and a pair of and regional championships in her career. She captained the team and was an all-state selection during her senior 2021 campaign, which saw Naperville Central post a 15-game unbeaten streak.
