Valencia, Dibildox Selected for All-Summit League Honors
SIOUX FALLS, S.D.-- A pair of Illinois State men's tennis standouts were named 2025 All-Summit League selections on Thursday, before this weekend's 2025 Summit League Tennis Championships set to be held in Denver, Colorado.
Junior Tomas Valencia (Santiago, Chile) was awarded All-Summit League First team honors, while fellow junior Adrian Dibildox (Monterrey, Mexico) was tabbed with All-Summit League Honorable Mention accolades.
Head coach Mark Klysner is pleased with the dedication by both Valencia and Dibildox. "What a great honor for these two young men. They have been consistent performers for our program over the years and so it's a great compliment that others in the conference recognize that as well. Couldn't be happier for them both!" Klysner said.
Valencia has led the way for the Redbirds at the top of the lineup this season. Holding a season record of 9-9 overall, the Santiago, Chile, native, went 2-3 at the No. 1 singles spot for ISU in Summit League play with wins over Drake and Oral Roberts.
In the non-conference portion of the season, Valencia secured wins against St. Joseph's, Eastern Illinois, Ball State, Northern Illinois, New Mexico State, Creighton, and Saint Louis (all at No. 1 singles).
Dibildox put together an identical 9-9 overall singles record in his third season with the Redbirds to earn his first Summit League honors. The Monterrey, Mexico, native went 2-3 in Summit League play with wins over Omaha and Oral Roberts to help the Redbirds qualify for the league championship.
The No. 4 seeded Redbirds take on the No. 1 seeded Denver Pioneers in the second semifinal of the Summit League Championships on Friday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m. CT.
