Redbirds' Record Five Personal Bests On Last Day Of Bryan Clay Invitational

The Illinois State track & field team closed out the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Athletic Stadium Friday evening.

AZUSA, Calif. – The Illinois State track & field team closed out the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Athletic Stadium Friday evening.  

In the evening hours on the West Coast, Illinois State had seven athletes compete in the men's and women's 1500m on the last day of the Bryan Clay Invitational. 

On the men's side, Junior Yusuf Baig led the way for the Redbirds, running a time of 3:47.37. Sophomore Kane Shields followed Baig with a personal best mark of 3:48.49, as Freshman Julian Baker finished with a time of 3:50.01. 

In the women's heats, all four Redbird runners scored new personal best times in the 1500m. Sophomore Grace Erb, the highest finisher for Illinois State, ran a time of 4:30.49.  Freshman Astrid Van Breedam recorded a time of 4:32.95. Sophomore Colleen Zeibert tallied a mark of 4:33.19 as Junior Maggie Reed was close behind with a time of 4:33.37.
