Redbirds Run Away with 2025 MVC Championship
WATERLOO, Ill. – Behind a MVC Championship-record team score of 874, the Illinois State women's golf team won the 2025 MVC Championship – the team's second straight – by 31 strokes, the fifth-largest margin of victory in MVC Championship history. The team championship is ISU's 16th in the program history, twice as many as the next closest on the list.
Following the championship, the conference gave out its championship trophy and individual awards, which the Redbirds swept. Aside from bringing home the tournament title, Jinyoung Yun was named the MVC Golfer of the Year for the second consecutive season, Morgan Jones the MVC Newcomer of the Year, Elise Fennell the MVC Freshman of the Year, and head coach Bre Hall – on her birthday – the MVC Coach of the Year. Additionally, Yun, Jones, Fennell, and Jessica Jolly, were named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Team, while Yun, Jones, and Fennell were all named to the MVC All-Tournament Team.
Three Redbirds – Yun, Jones, and Fennell – finished within the top-five individually, with Lory Paradis finishing sixth. Morgan Jones carded a 219 to lead the squad, with Fennell (220), Yun (220), and Paradis (221) finishing just behind.
ISU will learn the location for the next step of the season – the NCAA Regional – next Wednesday, April 23.
