Video: Gamma Phi Circus president prepares for her final home shows, April 11-12
Megan Koenig, a senior business management major at Illinois State University and president of the Gamma Phi Circus, became a Redbird because of the Gamma Phi Circus.
“I actually saw the circus with my sister when she was a freshman, and I decided to come here because of that,” Koenig said.
Now in her fourth year with the circus, Koenig is preparing for her final home shows at CEFCU Arena Friday, April 11, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Since August, Koenig said she and her troupe mates have put in more than 1,000 hours of practice for this year’s shows, which include a secret aerial act, featuring Koenig, never before performed by Gamma Phi Circus.
“Expect to see something you never expected to be able to be done,” Keonig said.
She will also appear in a secret ground act, contemporary and hip-hop dances, and she will sing during an aerialist act.
Watch Koenig prepare for the 2025 home show: A Journey Through the Fine Arts.
