Illinois State University will close today, Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. Variabilities in the weather forecast, which is calling for temperatures at or near freezing, could impact whether the area experiences icy conditions.
All classes (in-person, hybrid, and online) that are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. or after are canceled, including evening classes, and will not be delivered remotely. All assignments and exams in these classes should be rescheduled for a future date. Residence halls and the University Police Department will remain open. Watterson Dining Commons and Marketplace at Linkins will close at 8 p.m. All other University buildings will be closed.
Only weather essential personnel should report to work. All other employees, regardless of current work location (on-campus or remote) are not required to work during the closure. At this time, the University plans to resume normal operations on Thursday, February 6, at 7 a.m.
University Grounds staff have been treating sidewalks, drives, steps, parking lots and other surfaces with salt and brine throughout the day, but some spots may still be slick when the freezing rain is occurring.
Hourly employees whose regular shifts begin before 7 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, and who are not designated as essential personnel, should report to work at 7 a.m., when the University opens. Dining centers will open at regular times, but retail dining locations may have delayed openings.
