The Illinois State men's golf team gets its final tune-up before the MVC Championships as the squad travels to Iowa City to compete in the Hawkeye Invitational, hosted by the University of Iowa.

Illinois State redshirt junior TJ Barger broke the program single-round scoring record last Saturday, and as a result, has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, announced by the conference office on Thursday morning.

Illinois State redshirt junior TJ Barger reached a mark not yet accomplished by a Redbird golfer, as the Bloomington native became the first golfer in program history to card a 62 for an 18-hole score, breaking the previous mark of 63 set in 2007 by Tommy Bliefnick and Joe Emerich on back-to-back days.

After a strong performance at a difficult course in Memphis, the Illinois State men's golf team travels north to compete in the one-day Kishwaukee Intercollegiate, hosted by Northern Illinois University.

On a course that was fast and firm, and yielded few birdies, the Illinois State men's golf team finished in ninth place at the Memphis Intercollegiate: Spirited by Old Dominick, as Alex McCulla led the way for ISU, tying for a seventh-place finish.

Using a strong opening day by Alex McCulla, which has him tied for fifth place individually through 36 holes, and the Redbirds are in ninth place in a strong field at the Memphis Intercollegiate: Spirited by Old Dominick.

The Redbirds go south for the final time in the 2024-25 season as the squad will travel to southwest Tennessee to compete in the Memphis Intercollegiate: Spirited by Old Dominick on Monday, March 31 - Tuesday, April 1.

A fast start – five under par through the first seven holes – from Alex McCulla helped set the pace for the Redbirds, who closed out play at the 40th Annual Louisiana Classics, hosted by the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.
