More than a decade ago, before she took over as the head coach of Illinois State women's soccer, Raleigh DeRose was working a summer camp at Bradley University in Peoria. Amid the chaos, a young girl with bright red hair caught her eye.

It was a beautiful Saturday morning on Jay and Lori Bergman Field at Hancock Stadium, as the Illinois State football team worked through its first scrimmage of Fall Camp 2026. The Redbirds focused on several key situations during the 130-plus play workout, including coming off the goal line, driving the field, red zone and goal line, and a two-minute period that featured touchdowns on all three series.

Illinois State's Pauline Schedler competed in the 1500-meter event at the World Athletics U20 Championships Oregon 26 on Thursday.
