University Housing Services is excited to present the Cultural Dinner featuring actor and activist Javier Muñoz on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center. Illinois State University’s Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality will cater the dinner and feature a variety of Puerto Rican fusion cuisines. Tickets for the dinner are available online for $25. Student meal plan holders may use a meal swipe to make a reservation in exchange for one meal. Tickets will be available until October 20 or until they are sold out.  Javier Muñoz is best known for starring and co-creating the role of "Alexander Hamilton'' as part of the original cast of HAMILTON on Broadway. He got his break starring as “Usnavi” in IN THE HEIGHTS on Broadway. Javier currently stars in the independent, semi-autobiographical feature, BROWNSVILLE BRED, written and directed by Elaine Del Valle. He has starred in various independent features, including MONUMENTS, LOVE RECONSIDERED, and THREE MONTHS. Session Two of the Graduate School's Navigating Academic Conferences Series   Presenting research can feel intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be! In this workshop, Jillian Kaufmann, co-director of the COM 110 program, will draw on her experience in teaching public speaking to explore three key areas of strong academic presentations: content, delivery, and visual aids.
