Starks Earns MVC Women's Scholar-Athlete Of The Year As 17 Redbirds Named To Scholar-Athlete Team
SAINT LOUIS, Ill. – The Missouri Valley Conference has announced its Track and Field Scholar-Athletes of the Year and Scholar-Athlete teams Thursday morning.
Junior Erin Starks was selected as the MVC Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The award recognizes student-athletes who excel academically and athletically. Starks has excelled in the classroom with a current GPA of 3.5. At the MVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, secured 22 points for the Redbirds after a runner-up finish in the 100m hurdles and 4x100m relay, and a third-place finish in the 200m dash.
Along with Starks, 17 other Redbirds were named to the MVC's Scholar Team. To be selected to the team student-athletes must be eligible to the criteria selected by College Sports Communicators which outlines student-athletes must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA, at least a sophomore in academic standing parallel to CSC eligibility standards, and must have placed in the top eight in an individual event or top three in a relay event at either the indoor or outdoor track & field championships.
