Redbird Gymnastics Announces 2025 Competition Schedule
NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State gymnastics team is set to get back into the Midwest Independent Conference championship hunt, as head coach Bob Conkling has announced a competitive 2025 slate that features 13 meets and several top gymnastics programs from around the country.
"We are excited to build on last season's successes and carry those into this season," Illinois State head coach Bob Conkling said. "We have a very diverse schedule, which includes meets against a variety of conferences. With competitions against teams from the SEC, MAC, Big10, MIC and others, we feel there will be a lot of strong challenges to help the team build towards the MIC Championships and hopefully into the NCAA postseason."
The season opener will take place on January 3 at Missouri for a quad meet with Ball State and Southeast Missouri State, before the Redbirds compete the following Saturday on January 11 at the Western Michigan Next Level Podium meet against WMU, George Washington and Pitt.
The third of four road meets to begin the season will take place on Friday, January 17, when the Redbirds travel to Chicago for the Windy City Invite to compete against Fisk and Wisconsin-Stout. ISU's next competition will take place on Friday, January 24 at Northern Illinois, before the Redbirds finally head home to host the Huskies four days later on January 28 inside historic Horton Field House. The first month of competition wraps up on Friday, January 31, with a conference matchup at Southeast Missouri State.
February will begin on the road for a quad meet at Towson with William & Mary and Bowling Green on February 8, followed by a home meet against Greenville for the Redbirds inside CEFCU Arena on February 14. A road meet in Champaign against Illinois and Washington follows on Saturday, February 22, before the Redbirds return to Horton Field House for a quad with MIC foe Centenary,Central Michigan and Bowling Green on Friday, February 28.
March will commence with a road meet at Minnesota on Saturday, March 8, before ISU hosts its final home meet of the year on March 15 against Southeast Missouri State. That will be the final tune-up for the Redbirds in the regular season, before they head to Shreveport, Louisiana, to compete in the 2025 Midwest Independent Conference Championship hosted by Centenary before the NCAA Regionals begin on April 2.
