Redbirds Claim Eleven Wins on Day One of Seventh Annual Redbird Invitational
NORMAL, Ill.-- Illinois State Men's Tennis opened up the first home matches of the season at the Seventh Annual Redbird Invitational. The 'Birds went on to claim 11 wins on day one of the invitational. Play will continue tomorrow and Sunday if weather is permitting at the Gregory Street Tennis Complex.
Tin Ostro began the day for the Redbirds defeating EIU's Pieke Bouman in three sets with a strong first set win. Adrian Dibildox, Tomas Valencia and Caden Scarlett defeated there respective opponents by a margin of 32-20 margin. Newcomer Jett Leong and Tom Bevan rounded out singles wins over EIU.
In doubles play, Illinois State finished 3-1. The pair of Ostro and Dibildox collected a win over Bouman and Schut of Eastern Illinois. Scarlett/Valencia continued winning ways claiming a 8-1 victory over Marquette's Blagoev/Ryerson. At the No. 3 position Tom Bevan/Jett Leong knocked off Carlin/Cauvilla of Eastern Illinois 8-3 to roundout Day One of competition.
