Redbird Baseball Falls 17-3 In Second Game of Series At Indiana State

Indiana State proved too much for Illinois State as the Sycamores picked up a run-rule 17-3 win on Friday over the Redbirds in the second game of the Missouri Valley Conference series in Terre Haute.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State proved too much for Illinois State as the Sycamores picked up a run-rule 17-3 win on Friday over the Redbirds in the second game of the Missouri Valley Conference series in Terre Haute.

The Redbirds drop to 26-26 overall, 14-12 MVC while the Sycamores improve their record to 24-29 overall, 12-14 MVC.

Scoring Breakdown:

  • A two-run home run from Judah Morris put the Redbirds ahead 2-0 in the 1st inning
  • Indiana State scored the game's next six runs, including a home run in the 2nd and 3rd inning
  • A Sycamore wild pitch in the 5th inning plated another run for the Birds, making it 6-3
  • INS padded the lead with one run in the 5th before exploding for 10 in the 6th to put the game into run-rule territory.

Inside the Box Score:

  • Morris now has 19 home runs this year, tied for the team lead
  • Sophomore Lawson Minshew made his first appearance since March 28, throwing 0.1 innings in the 6th
