Illinois State Falls to UIC in MVC Championship Semifinals, 4-1
VALPARAISO, Ind.-- The Illinois State women's tennis team (15-8, 7-3 MVC) fell to the UIC Flames (16-4, 8-1 MVC) in the MVC Semifinal round at The Courts of Northwest Indiana by a score of 4-1 on Saturday (April. 26).
UIC took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Graduate student Elena Jankulovska (Skopje, Macedonia ) and freshman Emma Lindh (Malmo, Sweden) fell to UIC's Mayu Ushio/Dognke Liu by a 6-2 final. Freshman Nicole Iosio (Cordenons, Italy) and junior Zoe Limparis (Hinsdale, Illinois) came up short at the No. 3 position as the pair fell to the Flames Nia Cooper/Rodriguez Gregoris by a score of 6-3. The Birds picked up a win at the No. 5 position as Iosio defeated UIC's Dognke Liu in straight-sets, 6-2, 6-2.
ISU finishes the season with a 15-8 overall record while going 7-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. No. 3 UIC advances to the MVC Conference Championship where they will face No. 1 Murray State on Sunday (April. 27). First serve is slated for 10 a.m.
