Jankulovska, Pomarolli Earn Scholar-Athlete Honors
ST LOUIS, MO.-- Illinois State graduate student Elena Jankulovska was one of two Illinois State women's tennis student-athletes honored as part of the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete Team announced Thursday and she earned the league's top honor as the 2025 MVC Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Jankulovska is named MVC Scholar Athlete of the Year for the second time in her Redbird career, as she received the honor following the 2023 regular season. She is joined on the scholar athlete first team by junior teammate Silvia Pomarolli.
Jankulovska holds a 10-7 overall singles record on the season, including a 2-5 mark in MVC play at the No. 5 spot for the Redbirds. The Skopje, Macedonia, native secured key wins in spring dual matches over Purdue on Jan. 18 and at Marquette on Feb. 1.
Meanwhile, Pomarolli has earned MVC Scholar Athlete honors two times in her career, including being named MVC Tennis Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2024.
This spring, the junior collected a 9-7 overall record while posting a 4-3 MVC record at the No. 1 spot for the Redbirds. Pomarolli tallied a three-match win streak in MVC play from March 22-30 with victories over Bradley, UNI and Drake.
Illinois State (13-7, 6-2 MVC) will open up the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Championships against Drake University (5-15, 2-6, MVC) on April 25. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. inside Valparaiso Tennis Complex.
