Six Redbirds Honored with All-MVC Team Selections
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Junior Daniel Pacella was named First-Team All-MVC to headline a group of six Illinois State baseball student-athletes honored by the conference, as announced Tuesday morning.
Pacella was named First Team All-MVC while senior Judah Morris and junior Tyrelle Chadwick received Second Team All-MVC honors. The Redbirds also had junior Shai Robinson, sophomore Matthew Donnison, and senior Joe Husak tabbed as Honorable Mention All-MVC.
Pacella hit .366 with 20 home runs and 59 RBIs. Pacella played in all 53 regular season games, starting as the Redbird left fielder. His 20 HRs are the second most in a single season for a Redbird, only trailing Ryan Duncheon's 23 in 1999.
Pacella finished the regular season with 12 multi-RBI games, including a season high five RBIs against Valparaiso (April 5) and Bradley (April 19). He becomes the first back-to-back First-Team All-MVC selection for Redbird Baseball since Ryan Cermak in 2021 and 2022.
Morris smacked 19 home runs while recording 49 RBIs and 16 doubles. Hitting in the middle of the lineup, Morris has batted .303 in 2025 thus far. His 31 runs scored in conference play is tied with Pacella for the Redbird lead. He has started all 53 games at first base for the Redbirds.
Chadwick held a team-best 4.28 ERA this season while maintaining a 4.67 ERA in conference play, sitting top-10 in the category. Chadwick held a steady role in Illinois State's weekend rotation, holding five outings with at least three strikeouts, including a season high eight punchouts against UIC on May 10.
Robinson was the primary shortstop for the Redbirds in 2025. A sure-handed presence up the middle, Robinson made 117 assists over 215 chances. Meanwhile, at the plate, Robinson recorded 18 extra-base hits (10 home runs), 43 RBIs, and was a perfect 7-for-7 on stolen bases.
Donnison totaled a 1.86 ERA in the MVC, pitching primarily in a relief role. His 21 appearances to go along with 39.2 IP and 51 strikeouts leads all Illinois State relievers.
Husak, a 2024 Honorable Mention All-MVC honoree, holds a 5.67 ERA across 19 appearances and 27.0 innings pitched. Pitching primarily as ISU's closer during 2025, Husak saw hitters swing .171 against him in 11.2 IP during conference action. Husak recorded seven saves, six during MVC play, which is second most among MVC pitchers.
The seven saves for the senior also moved him into sole possession of second all-time in program history for the category.
