Redbirds Drop Sunday Doubleheader at #25 Oklahoma State
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Illinois State baseball team dropped a doubleheader at 25th-ranked Oklahoma State at O'Brate Stadium on Sunday. The Birds fell, 16-1 in game one before dropping game two, 18-1.
Game One
Oklahoma State started hot with four runs in the 1st inning before Illinois State got one back in the 2nd inning on a single from Daniel Contreras.
The Cowboys scored the game's next 12 runs for the run-rule victory.
Game Two
Illinois State scored first with a solo home run from Daniel Pacella in the top of the 1st to make it 1-0.
Oklahoma State tied it in the bottom of the 2nd with a leadoff home run to knot the score at 1-1. The Cowboys added four runs (all unearned) in the 3rd inning to lead, 5-1.
The home team scored the game's final 13 runs over the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings to put the game away and secure the series with the 18-1 win.
