Redbirds Add Landon Moore for 2025-26 Season

Illinois State head men's basketball coach Ryan Pedon has announced the addition of Landon Moore to the Redbird squad for the 2025-26 season.

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State head men's basketball coach Ryan Pedon has announced the addition of Landon Moore to the Redbird squad for the 2025-26 season.

"We are very excited to add Landon Moore to our basketball family," said Pedon. "We recruited Landon two years ago when he transferred to Butler, and we walked away impressed with both he and his family. He has great size, strength, and experience on the perimeter, and he has the ability to be a lock-down defender as well. Offensively, he will enhance our roster with his ability to play through the paint. He is strong, physical, and has a real knack for getting to the free throw line. I love how he compliments our current roster and believe that his best basketball is still ahead of him."

Moore, a native of Bloomington, Illinois, comes to the Redbirds after spending the previous two seasons at Butler, where he played in 68 games over the two seasons. Last season he played 35 games with three starts, averaging 3.2 points per game. He twice scored 13 points – against Mississippi State on November 29 and against Georgetown on February 15. He had 13 games with multiple assists during the year, including a season-high five against Marquette on January 28, and had 44 assists on the year with just 27 turnovers.

As a sophomore at Butler, he averaged 3.8 points per game while scoring in double-figures four times, including twice scoring a season-high 14 points, on December 23 at Providence and on January 10 against Marquette. He had 13 more games with multiple assists and had 42 assists on the season with 26 turnovers.

During his freshman campaign at Saint Francis (Pa.) he was named to the Northeast Conference (NEC) All-Rookie Team and was selected the NEC Rookie of the Week seven times – one of just six players in NEC history to earn the weekly honor seven or more times during the season. He played in 19 games, starting the first 17 before an injury sidelined him for most of the NEC schedule. He averaged 13.1 points per game – second on the team – and scored in double-figures in 13 of his 19 games, including three games of 20+ points. He scored a career-high 25 points at Miami (Fla.) on December 17, and added 22 points against LIU on January 14. He averaged 3.6 assists per game, dishing out 69 on the season with just 34 turnovers, and he had a career-high seven assists in his collegiate opener on November 7 at St. Bonaventure.

He ended his high school career at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio, where he averaged 24.8 points and 5.0 assists per game while making a school-record 114 three-pointers in his lone season in Ohio. Prior to that he played at Bloomington High School where he averaged 18.2 points and 6.4 assists per game as a junior.

The Redbirds are coming off a 22-14 overall record, the most wins in a season since 2016-17, and won the 2025 College Basketball Invitational. The Redbirds return a pair of All-MVC players in Chase Walker (first team) and Johnny Kinziger (second team), while Jack Daugherty was named to the All-MVC Freshman and Bench squads.
