AZUSA, Calif. – The Illinois State track & field team closed out day one of the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Athletic Stadium Wednesday evening.
Freshman Astrid Van Breedam was the sole runner for the Redbirds on day one and recorded a top-10 time of 10:34.76 in the 3000m steeplechase. Van Breedam now sits 10th in Illinois State history for the event.
Action will pick up on Thursday as Illinois State will field seven athletes throughout the day (all approximate start times in CST):

Junior Yusuf Baig and Graduate Nick Doud will compete at 9:00 a.m. in the men's 5000m open B.

Junior Maggie Reed is set to run the women's 5000m open B at 10:05 a.m.

Sophomores Colleen Zeibert and Grace Erb will take on the women's 800m invite, beginning at 5:50 p.m.

Sophomore Kane Shields and Freshman Julian Baker will run in the men's 800m invite at 7:30 p.m.

Senior Zack Loomis will cap off the night for the Redbirds in the men's 5000m open A at 8:50 p.m.

Following the conclusion of the events on Thursday, members of the Illinois State track & field team will compete at the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor on Friday, April 18 with action slated to begin at 11:00 a.m.
