About the Course
The original nine-hole course was developed by noted golf course architect Thomas Bendelow. Bendelow was a prolific course designer with over 600 courses (many famous) designed during the early 1900s. He is often described as the "Johnny Appleseed" of golf course design. Later, the club chose David Gill to create plans for an additional nine holes on 75 acres of land. Today, the club has 18 beautiful and challenging holes of golf. The course features tree-lined, narrow fairways with strategically placed bunkers and modestly sized greens. Water hazards can be found on numerous holes with the Kishwaukee River and a creek flowing through the course. With changes in the weather and wind direction, the course provides plenty of variety and a continuous challenge to our members and their guests. Our course requires accuracy off the tee and demands precise approach shots and strong short-game skills. Throughout its history, Kishwaukee Country Club has hosted numerous tournaments, including the Illinois Senior Open, collegiate tournaments, U.S. Open qualifying for both men and women, Lincoln Highway tournaments for men and women, junior high school regional and sectional tournaments, interclub leagues and more.
