Illinois State University cultural recognition ceremonies to celebrate graduating students

Registered student organizations (RSOs) at Illinois State University affiliated with the Multicultural Center will host 2024 cultural graduation recognition events. Lavender Graduation kicks off the celebrations on April 20, followed by Nuestros Logros, MAPS, and Umoja: Black Graduation Celebration.

Illinois State University anticipates Board of Trustee approval in May of the news strategic plan, Excellence by Design: 2024-2029, in which the importance of cultivating a culture of equity, diversity, access, and belonging for all members of the campus community is upheld as both a core value and a strategic direction.

As part of this commitment, the Multicultural Center will host 2024 cultural graduation recognition events that honor the University’s Latino/a/x, LGBTQIA+, and Middle Eastern, Asian, Pacific Islander, and Southeast Asian graduates, their families, and communities.

Lavender Graduation honors LGBTQIA+ lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and ace-identified graduates at Illinois State. This event will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, in the Prairie Room at the Bone Student Center.  

Nuestros Logros honors Latino/a/x graduates at Illinois State. This event will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at CEFCU Arena.  

MAPS  honors Middle Eastern, Asian, Pacific Islander, and Southeast Asian graduates at Illinois State. This event will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Multicultural Center.  

The Umoja Community Forum is hosting its annual celebration for Illinois State University students of African descent and from the African diaspora. Umoja: Black Graduation Celebration at Illinois State University will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 9, in Braden Auditorium at the Bone Student Center.
