Carlos Garcia named AVP for Financial Administration and Comptroller
Following the successful completion of a national search, Carlos Garcia has been selected to serve as the new Associate Vice President for Financial Administration and Comptroller, effective December 2, 2024.
As a member of the Finance and Planning Leadership team, the AVP & Comptroller serves as the chief accountant of the University and ensures compliance with all applicable University, state and federal regulations and policies and provides financial stewardship, vision and innovation to implement best practices in support of the University’s strategic plan.
Mr. Garcia earned his MBA in Global Finance from Eastern University in Saint Davids, Pennsylvania in 2003. He comes to Illinois State from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, where he has served as Controller since 2019.
“I am pleased to welcome Carlos to the Redbird family and am confident that he has the skills and experience to lead this office into the future,” said Interim Vice President Dan Petree. “I want to extend my thanks to the search committee for their excellent efforts, and all members of the campus community who participated in the process and provided valuable feedback.”
Interim Vice President Petree also extends his thanks to Doug Schnittker, who has served as AVP and Comptroller since 2019, for his leadership and commitment to the University and congratulates him on his impending retirement.
