Governor JB Pritzker has appointed Doug Peterson to serve as a member of the Board of Trustees of Illinois State University.

Governor JB Pritzker has appointed Doug Peterson to serve as a member of the Board of Trustees of Illinois State University. This appointment fills a vacant seat, and returns the Board to eight members for the first time since 2021.

Peterson is a strategic leader with profound expertise in AI Strategy and Integration, driving enterprise-wide initiatives that align with corporate objectives and enhance operational efficiency. He currently serves as the Director of AI Strategy and Implementation with AbbVie. Peterson leads AI governance and compliance frameworks, ensuring ethical AI deployment and adherence to regulatory standards, as a part of AbbVie’s Responsible AI and Governance Team.

“Doug brings a wealth of innovation, insight, and Redbird pride, and I’m delighted to welcome him to the Board of Trustees,” said Illinois State University President Aondover Tarhule. “His expertise will be invaluable as we shape the future of our institution and prepare the next generation of leaders.”

Peterson received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Information Technology from American InterContinental University, and a Master of Business Administration from Illinois State University.
