Office of International Engagement Celebrates Homecoming Week with Cultural Banner Display

During Homecoming Week, the Office of International Engagement invited students, faculty, and staff to take part in a fun and creative project: a collaborative banner celebrating Illinois State University’s international community. The banner was decorated on October 3rd during the bi-monthly Conversations Café social event hosted by OIE, where participants added doodles, flags, phrases, and personal touches.
Whimsically decorated, the banner invited people to share what represents them with the ISU campus. It highlights the diverse identities and cultures that make up the global Redbird family, including international students, faculty, staff, and those involved in study abroad.
The banner also gives special recognition to the top ten countries represented on campus this semester, helping shine a light on ISU’s international presence.
A small but colorful way to bring people together, the banner served as a celebration of culture, connection, and the many ways ISU engages with the world.
If you’re interested in joining the Conversations Café program, we’d love to have you—no RSVP necessary!
