2026 Andrew Carnegie Fellowship applications due October 3

The Center for Civic Engagement is partnering with the Office of the Provost to facilitate nominations for the national Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program.

The Center for Civic Engagement is partnering with the Office of the Provost to facilitate nominations for the national Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program through the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program awards $200,000 fellowships to support exceptional scholarship in the humanities and social sciences related to the theme of political polarization. 

Applications for the 2026 Fellows Program are due October 3. The Office of the Provost will review proposals and select one junior and one senior scholar as nominees from Illinois State University. Proposals will be evaluated based on originality, potential impact on the field, and plans to share findings with a broad audience. Illinois State University nominees will be notified by October 15 and will prepare to submit their application to the Carnegie Corporation by November 7.
