HR news and notes for February 2025

HR news and notes features information about upcoming Learning opportunities, changes to personnel file requests, and reminder of remote/flex policies for staff

Learning and development coming up

Upcoming offerings include in-person options for Supervisor Foundations, Building Your Bench, and Excel I. Synchronous virtual training and learning opportunities include sessions on Building a Better Team, Microsoft Teams and Qualtrics, and Mindsets to Engage/Retain/Inspire. Asynchronous (available 24/7) learning is also available through LinkedIn Learning (including a day-by-day calendar for Mindset). More information and additional campus learning opportunities can be discovered on the HR webpage.

Personnel file access changes

Policy 3.1.29, Rights of Access to Personnel Files and Records has been updated to comply with changes to state law and to better qualify processes around requesting access and documentation with the office of Human Resources. The policy is now available (as are many other policies) at Policy.IllinoisState.edu.

Staff continue to utilize remote/flex arrangements for work

Since the expansion and encouragement of the remote work policy 3.1.31 and flexible work schedules policy 3.4.12 and 3.6.25 through a cross-functional committee spanning all divisions and employment types in 2021, the number of staff participating in these programs has grown to 670 participants in one or the other arrangement across campus. This number represents approximately 30% of staff on campus. For more information on participating in these arrangements, consult your direct supervisor to see if these might work for your role at Illinois State University.
