Water main flushing on campus
Crews with the Normal Fire Department, ISU Facilities Maintenance, and Environmental Health and Safety will be flushing standpipes and fire pumps in May and June.
As part of regular inspections and maintenance, crews with the Normal Fire Department, ISU Facilities Maintenance, and Environmental Health and Safety will be flushing standpipes and fire pumps on the Illinois State University campus May 19-22, and May 27-June 11.
The process of flushing these systems may temporarily block lanes of traffic on and around campus, and cause periodic discoloration of the water in some campus buildings. The discoloration is harmless and can be cleared by letting the water run for a short time.
