NORMAL, Ill. -Illinois State is coming off back-to-back wins over conference opponents and is looking to make it three in a row. The Redbirds are fresh off a road win against South Dakota and a home victory over Northern Iowa last weekend, improving their record to 6-3.

They’ll look to continue their winning ways this week as they travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, to take on the Indiana State Sycamores.

A key factor in the Redbirds’ 31-16 win last weekend was the offense, led by senior quarterback Tommy Rittenhouse and senior running back Victor Dawson. The two combined for more than 300 yards of offense on Saturday, with Rittenhouse throwing for 228 yards and a touchdown through the air while adding another score on the ground. Dawson rushed for 101 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown, providing a spark after starting running back Wenkers Wright went down with an injury.

The Redbird defense came up big when needed, forcing two interceptions in the win. They’ll need another strong performance this week against an Indiana State team coming off a huge upset over No. 2 South Dakota State. The defense will especially have to contain senior wide receiver Rashad Rochelle, who caught four passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns in the Sycamores’ victory.

Illinois State and Indiana State will meet for the 16th time under head coach Brock Spack, who holds an impressive 12-3 record against the Sycamores.

The Redbirds will look to take care of business in Terre Haute, with kickoff set for noon Saturday, Nov. 8, at Memorial Stadium.
