The Illinois State University Athletics Department partnered with the town of Normal to put on the third annual Ballin‘ on Beaufort on Wednesday.
The event kicked off with the ISU Dance Team and cheerleaders performing for the crowd. That was followed by the introduction of players from the Redbird Men’s and Women’s basketball teams who worked to get kids excited by trying to make baskets from the rooftop of Fiala Brothers Brewery.
“It feels good obviously it’s a little nerve racking laying the open net then just kind of going up and shooting” said Jack Daugherty, a player for the Redbird Men’s Basketball team.
Kids were tossed prizes like T-shirts and mini balls.
Players said the turn out for the event this year was especially crowded.
“It was last year but I think a lot more people attended. I think the crowd was pretty engaged considering we have pretty high standards coming up this year so it was pretty exciting,”
The first games of the season will kick off in early November.
