Illinois State volleyball gets a monsterous win over Murray State in Halloween thriler

Illinois State volleyball defeated Murray State on Halloween during their Monster Match. The Redbirds secured their second sweep in a row with the victory. Illinois State volleyball defeated Murray State on Halloween during their Monster Match. The Redbirds secured their second sweep in a row with the victory.

Isu was in early control of the match and kept it going throughout the entire match. Aida shadewald sent an early message to the racers with a vicious kill. Middle blocker hannah reichensperger racked up five kills on the match with help from setter ella craggs. Ne’khaela rodgers sealed the deal for the redbirds with back-to-back blocks in the third set to end the match.

Isu earned their first back-to-back sweep since August with the win and head coach allie matters shares the improvements the team has made to earn the acheivment.

“Um when not making a lot of errors which is a big change for us, a big adjustment, we had a plan against Murray State,” Matters said. “We followed the scout, we paid attention to what was working, made adjustments to things that weren’t working and i just thought it was great to see.”

ISU is back in action Friday at CEFCU Arena with first serve starting at 5 p.m.

The team will also be celebrating Senior Night in the last home game of the season.
