A busy campus intersection has officially become safer for pedestrians. The corner of Beaufort Street and Broadway Avenue is now a permanent four-way stop following safety concerns voiced by the community. New stop signs, curb extensions, and left-turn safety treatments have been installed as part of the Pedestrian and Roadway Campus Safety Initiative.
Students who frequently walk through the intersection have welcomed the change. “You never knew if a car was gonna stop… this really enhances the safety,” said student Tyler Banis. Another student, Luke Smith, said he used to feel at risk when crossing, but now feels more secure. The initiative has also led to street closures at School Street, College Avenue, and Mulberry intersections as part of broader efforts to improve pedestrian safety.
