On Friday night in a battle between two Bloomington-Normal high schools, Bloomington High School traveled to Hancock Stadium to face University High School for an intercity matchup.

The Raiders came out firing in the first quarter with a passing touchdown by quarterback Keyontae Hamilton to receiver Jordan Norton to put the Raiders up six.

U-High tried to answer but the defense of the Purple Raiders came up big as linebacker Kyveon Chestnut timed the hit perfectly on quarterback Owen Kirby to knock the ball out and give Bloomington an extra possession.

The Pioneers refused to give up after the turnover, with Kirby firing over the middle to receiver Cade Cunningham to tie the game.

Bloomington improved to 2-0 following a 19-14 victory over the Pioneers.
