The art gallery in Julian Hall has opened with an all new display featuring pieces created by Illinois State students.

On Tuesday, September 23, the new exhibit was opened, officially putting five students’ work on display. The gallery is currently focused on glass art, including a piece by art student Draper Mathews called ‘Hindsight’, which was created with particles of glass. “The piece really is about the obsessive stewing over past events in your life that have occurred to you and how sometimes its really difficult to let go of those and how you keep looking back,” Mathews said.

While the gallery does have a focus on glass, multiple other art mediums are on display in the exhibit, including packing paper, fabrics and even a bike.

One piece titled ‘Forced Freedom’ appears to be made entirely of cardboard and is an impressive scale. Student Morgan Zavoral said, “I turned the corner and it was the only thing I could look at, it was amazing.”

The Glass Exhibition will be open in the first floor of Julian Hall until October 3.
