The Normal Fire Department’s latest Fire Safety Week effort focused on lithium batteries and the unexpected, and sometimes fiery, issues they can cause when unattended. TV-10’s Riley Ward has more.  

The university is planning to open a first-of-its-kind laboratory that uses Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, and Nursing to predict Atrial Fibrillation. The AI has begun to excite students and professors studying heart rhythms and developing software to help prevent and detect heart disease. Atrial Fibrillation or “AFIB” is a heart disease where the Upper two chambers of the heart beat at an irregular rhythm and disrupts the blood flow. To start the week of homecoming, Illinois State University students and community members gathered in Uptown Normal to enjoy the festivities. Carnival games, food vendors, and bounce houses lined the streets of the circle. The Gamma Phi Circus also performed adding to the fun.
