Local businesses in Uptown are implementing policy changes amidst the increased pressure and increased customer base for homecoming week.

Businesses are implementing tighter rules at the door, longer hours, and plans to keep lines moving.

Pre-made drinks and a trimmed menu are being used to reach the goal of faster services and a safer night as the post-game crowd arrives.

Businesses are also going 21 and older early as it helps with ID checks and crowd control according to managers at Fiala Brothers Brewery.

“About the only thing we change on days like Homecoming, because we are at ‘cap’, is we do go 21 and up all day, normally we don’t cut off until about 6,7,8 at night depending on how busy it is, but that day it’s 21 and up,” said Zak Edshed, the general manager of Fiala Brothers Brewery.

Homecoming week is set to take place October 13-19, with the Homecoming football game scheduled for the 18th in the Hancock Stadium.
