The normal public library has officially reopened after a lengthy renovation.

The 16-month long project wrapped up this summer, finally allowing library patrons of all ages to return. The renovation itself dealt with replacing and rebuilding a great deal due to asbestos. However, in addition to making the library safer for everybody, the rest of the building got a makeover.

The entire library got an upgrade, improving the look of every room. The building received all new furnishings and even new led lights which have already been greatly appreciated by staff and visitors. Laura Golaszweski, the patron experience manager, said, “the collections all have new shelving so its a lot easier to find things and it just looks open and brighter a lot of people have asked if we added square footage, which we didn’t it just feels bigger.”

The renovation even added improved spaces to the children’s discovery room, nursing lounge, teen hangout section, private study rooms, and an all-ages Makerspace, making each one a more enjoyable space to be in, while still maintaining some of the old elements of the library.
