Families Celebrate Halloween at Uptown Normal’s Treat Feast

NORMAL, Ill. — Families filled Uptown Normal for this year’s annual Treat Feast, an event hosted by the Town of Normal that brought together kids, parents, and friends for a night of costumes, candy, and community fun.

“It’s ecstatic, honestly. I haven’t stopped smiling because it’s so fun to see all the kids dressed up and what they come up with,” said Kacye Mays. “Even the parents like dressing up too. It’s just a fun atmosphere to be around.”

Local police and community volunteers helped close off streets so children could safely collect candy throughout the area.

“It’s the safest place ever,” said Roger and Carol Elliott. “We come to Uptown Normal all the time, and it’s wonderful—no issues at all, absolutely safe.”

Many residents said the event makes Halloween feel special and brings everyone closer together.

“The community comes together, everyone’s out and about, and it just feels safe knowing you’re around people who love Halloween,” one participant said.

Families can continue celebrating Halloween with trick-or-treating hours in Bloomington-Normal from 5 to 8 p.m.
